Member Protection

Thornleigh Thunder FC take Member protection very seriously and consider it an important part of the running of the club.

Football Clubs and Associations in NSW operate under the FFA National Member Protection Policy

Member protection describes the practices and procedures that are put in place within sport organisations to protect their members. The Member Protection policy aims to ensure that core values and positive behaviours are maintained and assists in ensuring that every person involved in football is treated with respect and dignity, and is safe and protected from abuse.  The Policy also provides the procedures that support the commitment of Football Federation Australia, Football NSW and its affiliated Associations and clubs to eliminating discrimination, harassment, child abuse and other forms of inappropriate behaviour from football.

Member protection is important as it allows members to take part in football, free from harmful behaviours and for club committees, it’s also an effective risk management tool that protects against the harm of participants and members, particularly children and young people.

Football NSW is committed to providing an environment safe for children, which is free from harassment and abuse for everyone, and promotes respectful and positive behaviour and values.

The full details of the policy can be found on the Football NSW Member Protection Portal
