Member Protection

Thornleigh Thunder FC takes member protection very seriously and views it as a vital part of the club’s operations.

Football clubs and associations in NSW operate under the FFA National Member Protection Framework.

Member protection refers to the practices and procedures implemented within sporting organisations to safeguard their members. This policy aims to uphold core values and positive behaviours, ensuring that everyone involved in football is treated with respect and dignity, while being safe and protected from abuse. It also outlines the procedures that support the commitment of Football Federation Australia, Football NSW, and its affiliated associations and clubs in eliminating discrimination, harassment, child abuse, and other forms of inappropriate behaviour in football.

Member protection is crucial as it allows participants to enjoy football free from harmful behaviours. For club committees, it serves as an effective risk management tool, protecting participants—especially children and young people—from harm.

Football NSW is committed to providing a safe environment for children, free from harassment and abuse, and promoting respectful and positive behaviours and values.

Full details of the policy can be found on the Football NSW Member Protection Portal.
